Look at the framing of this scene. It’s a direct parallel to when Elena thought Jeremy had died after Damon snapped his neck in 2x01. And this is framed as romantic? As good? That Damon used her memory of him killing her brother brutally and for no reason to re-enact the scene with one of her best friends? To traumatize and retraumatize her over and over again until she’s beat into being who he wants her to be, after he forced her emotions off in the first place?
